Cash for gold: what the rules say
Indian income-tax law does not allow anyone to receive ₹2 lakh or more in cash for one transaction, or from one person in a single day. So when your gold is worth ₹2 lakh or more, payment is made by UPI. Smaller amounts can be paid in cash.
For transactions above ₹2 lakh, your PAN card is also required. UPI payments usually reach your account within seconds, but banks usually limit UPI transfers to about ₹1 lakh a day. For a large amount, call us before you visit and we will explain how the full payment reaches you.
